Dear {{ FirstName | default: 'friends' }},

Welcome back to another edition of the Catholics Vote Common Good weekly newsletter.

Got an Extra $1000 Laying Around? You Can Pray for Trump!

A graphic featuring a headline from National Catholic Reporter which reads: “New combative faith group to host ‘Catholic prayer’ for Trump at Mar-a-Lago”. Included is a faded, distressed photo of Donald Trump in an ostentatious ballroom with a bank of American flags behind him.

During this most holy time of year for our Catholic faith, a group with the original name, "Catholics for Catholics" is hosting a $1,000-a-ticket black-tie event, Catholic Prayer for Trump.

The dinner program on St Joseph's Day March 19, at Trump's home Mar-a-Lago, features a speaker lineup of heavyweights on the political far right, such as the convicted felon Roger Stone, conservative activist and self-described "dirty trickster," convicted felon retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, who served briefly as Trump's national security adviser, and the actor who played Jesus in a movie 20 years ago.

Catholics for Catholics is just one of the many well funded groups Catholics Vote Common Good is up against this year.  Another is Catholic Vote which has pledged $50 million to defeat President Biden.

Ours is a grassroots effort that doesn't have millions to spend or $1000 a head fundraisers to raise our funds. We do, however, have Catholic voters all over the country like you who are committed to issues of social justice, immigration, climate change, and eliminating the scourge of White Christian Nationalism.

We hope you can contribute at any amount you are comfortable to help us take on the alt right who is using our Catholic faith like a weapon.

Vote Common Good on the Chris Hayes Podcast

Our Partner Doug Pagitt of Vote Common Good discussed his travels to the border to combat White Christian Nationalism on the latest episode of MSNBC's Chris Hayes's podcast "Why is this Happening?"

Listen to Doug and be inspired here.

National Co-Chairs, Catholics Vote Common Good

Catholics Vote Common Good is a partner of Vote Common Good born out of the Catholics for Biden movement that seeks to create common ground at the intersection of faith and politics by focusing on what unites us, rather than what divides us. We work to support candidates who share that philosophy and who work toward raising up the quality of life of our nation's children, families, and the most vulnerable among us.
