New Op-Ed by Catholic University of America Professor John White

A graphic featuring a headline for an Op-Ed published to The Hill which reads: “This election, the Catholic vote is essential for the Biden campaign.”

Today, polls find Catholics preferring Trump, 55 percent, to 43 percent for Biden. Yet there are opportunities for Biden to make inroads with Catholic voters.

A graphic featuring an illustration of an invitation sticking out of a red envelope which reads: “The holy sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for President Donald Trump and Country.” The logo for the conservative group Catholics for Catholics is in the upper right corner. On the left is an “ALERT” stamp in red with the caption: “MAGA Group, Catholics for Catholics, Launches ‘Masses for Trump’.”

The Catholic group that hosted a prayer event fundraiser for former President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago in March is now trying to have Masses said for the presumptive GOP nominee before the November election, prompting concern from some priests who say it could politicize the Eucharist.

The well-funded Catholics for Catholics group said the "Holy Masses for President Trump Campaign" aims to have 2,024 Masses between Trump's birthday, June 14, and Election Day, Nov. 5.
